This review is on Under Armour’s “Big Logo” Hoody.  This is a fleece and comes both as a pullover and as a zip-up.  Lightweight and warm, the Under Armour Fleece Performance hoody is an ideal garment for chilly mornings on the track. The hoody hails from Under Armour’s ColdGear collection, a series of garments designed to keep athletes warm, dry, and light in temperatures under 55 degrees F.

Construction

All ColdGear garments feature a double-sided fabric–in this case 100-percent polyester ArmourFleece fabric–that combines a soft brushed inner layer that traps body heat with a lightweight, fast-drying outer layer. This fulfills the goal of keeping you warm without weighing you down.  Other details include a three-piece hood construction that provides an optimal fit and coverage and a marsupial pouch that doubles as a hand warmer.  The UA logo is embroidered on the front, not silk-screened like some other hoodies, so expect it to last.
Fit and Feel
The polyester weave both feels very comfortable, and also has a small amount of stretch to it.  The inner layer feels smooth and the hoody as a whole does not weigh you down.  Be aware, as with many UA garments, this runs slightly large.  If you’re borderline between two sizes, you may want to consider the smaller of the two, particularly if you’re 5’8″ or shorter.  They seem to fit better on people in the 5’10”-6’2″ range.
Performance
The hoody also harnesses four-way Armour Stretch technology, which improves mobility and accelerates dry time when you’re on the move.  I’ve worn last years model through a full winter season, and if this year’s version is similar, it will keep you very warm in the cold while not making you feel like you’re burning up, if you are active with it on.  The best part, is the tight outer weave.  It does a fantastic job at keeping you dry and resisting wind. The outer layer performs well in a light mist, but I wouldn’t expect too much from a downpour. The hoody also has a remarkably light weight and feel to it.
Overall Impressions
This is a quality hoody.  I prefer the zip-up over the pullover, but both would be an excellent choice.  This hoody costs slightly more than many other brands, but the quality is in the garment.  It’s been my experience that Under Armour makes a quality product that’s built to last AND perform.
